Description

Eucommia bark (Eucommia ulmoides) is the first tonic herb ever recorded, listed first in the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing. For more than 2,500 years, Taoist herbalists have turned to it as a primary Yang Jing herb, to nourish Kidney Yang and keep the body's structure strong.

Traditionally, it's taken for strong bones, tendons and ligaments, especially the lower back and knees.* Whether you're a powerlifter or a morning walker, a pickup basketball player or a nighttime knitter, it's a herb for doing what you love, for longer.

Ours is sourced Dì Dào from the Hunan, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Guizhou regions of China. The bark comes from trees 8 to 10 years old, is sun-dried, then dual-extracted. Nothing added.

Ingredients: Eucommia ulmoides (Eucommia bark) dual extract.

FAQs

Eucommia bark (Eucommia ulmoides) is the bark of the Eucommia tree, and the first tonic herb ever recorded, in the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing. In Taoist herbalism it's a primary Yang Jing herb, and a Liver herb.
For over 2,500 years, Taoist herbalists have used Eucommia to nourish Kidney Yang and to support strong bones, tendons and ligaments,* especially the lower back and knees. It's a herb for keeping the body's structure strong as we age.
Our Eucommia is sourced Dì Dào from the Hunan, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Guizhou regions of China. The bark is harvested from trees 8 to 10 years old, sun-dried, then dual-extracted.
Adults, take 1g (½ teaspoon) once to twice a day. Stir it into hot water, tea, plant milk or a smoothie, or add it to broths and meals.
Earthy, a little sweet and a little bitter. Most people take it in a hot drink or blend it into a smoothie with other tonic herbs.
The bark is the part the Taoists prized as a Yang tonic, and it's what we use. The leaf is used in some modern products, but it isn't the traditional tonic part of the tree.
Yes. It sits well with other Yang herbs like Deer Antler, Cordyceps and JING. For Yin and Yang together, pair it with Rehmannia or Schisandra.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend working with your practitioner. If you take blood thinners or blood pressure medication, check with your healthcare provider first. Not suitable if you have a latex allergy. Stop at least 2 weeks before elective surgery.
