SHEN Bedtime Drink (Recipe by Iris Surrland)
Did you know that your body needs fuel in order to sleep? It's essential to provide energy to your body in order to promote restorative processes, since lots of healing takes place during the night. Even though our mind is resting and processing, our body is still very active. So for a good sleep I love to drink a hot drink before I go to bed. This is an ideal way to help keep stress levels low during the night, and to ensure deep rest.
To make sure my body is getting the most out of my bedtime snack, I like to make a warm milk drink with adaptogenic tonic herbs. This drink helps me to relax and drift off into a peaceful sleep. Sometimes I make my own blend but most days I use the SHEN powder because it’s the perfect combination of herbs for this purpose. Herbs and mushrooms that are great for relaxation and deep sleep are: Reishi mushroom, Albizia flower, Asparagus root, Spirit poria, Pearl powder, Polygala root, and prepared Rehmannia root. All of which are in in this blend.
I like to sip on this drink for about 20 minutes before bed, to give the herbs and minerals time to work their magic. When I prepare this drink, I always feel a sense of calm and relaxation and I'm able to drift off into a deep, restful sleep. Give it a try, and see what benefits you experience.
